I can’t go shopping in big stores unless I travel for a couple of hours. 我得开几个小时的车才能到大的商场去购物。 ①unless连词，用于引导条件状语从句，意为“除非……如果不……”，等于“if ... not”。 如：除非你帮助我，否则我不能完成任务。 I can’t finish my work unless you help me. = I can’t finish my work if you don’t help me. 除非天晴，否则我们不能按时到达那儿。 We can’t get there on time unless it is sunny. =We can’t get there on time if it isn’t sunny. ②a couple of hours几个小时 couple是名词，指两人或两件事。 a couple of表示“几个人或几件事”。如： 我看见几个男人出去了。 I saw a couple of men get out. 2. And even though we have made a lot of progress, we still have big pollution problems in the city. 虽然我们已经取得了很大的进步，但是仍存在严重的城市污染问题。 even though是连词，引导让步状语从句，意为“即使……，虽然……” even though=even if，不能同时用but 即使我们很聪明，我们仍需加倍努力。 Even though we are clever, we must work hard. 即使天气很冷，他们仍然继续工作。 Even though it’s very cold, they still go on working. The article says one city has a wonderful program to help homeless people return to work and live like other people. 这篇文章写到一个城市开展了一个精彩的项目去帮助无家可归的人们重新工作并且像其他人一样生活。 ①say＋从句，表（文字材料）载，写到。 如：报纸上说没有生还者。 It said in the paper that there were no survivors. 她的身份证上写着她只有14岁。 Her ID card says that she is only fourteen. ②homeless是由名词home＋后缀less构成的形容词 如：careless粗心的，useless无用的 2. Well, once they find people in need, they decide on suitable ways to help them. 噢，他们一旦发现有需要帮助的人，就决定采取适当的方式去帮助他们。 ①once在本句中是连词，引导时间状语从句，意为“一旦……就……”。它的用法和if引导的条件状语从句一致。从句可用一般现在时代表将来。 如：一旦你听到这首歌，你会永远忘不了它。 Once you hear the song, you’ll never forget it. 她一旦来到这儿，请打电话给我。 Once she arrive here, please ring me up. ②in need中的need是名词，意为“（食物、钱或生活来源的）短缺，缺乏。” 如：我们应该向贫困者提供帮助。 We should provide help to people in need. 患难见真情。A friend in need is a friend indeed. ③decide on sth. 决定，选定某事（物） 如：我们已经决定旅游的最佳方式。 We have decided on the best way to trave
