As the nations first African-American president, Barack Obama united the nation’s citizens across traditional barriers of race, religion, region and economics, effectively delivered his will and thought, expressed his resolution of change and gained support from the most diverse coalitions by his powerful language and excellent public speaking skills. 1. A Brief Introduction to Barack Obama Barack Obama was born and bred in a small village in Kenya and grew up herding goats with his own father, a domestic servant to the British. Since his father was died in his early childhood Barack Obama lived with her grandparents in Hawaii. Obama graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996, where he had served for eight years.In 2004,he became the third African American to be elected to the US Senate since Reconstruction. In 2008, he defeated the Hillary Clinton and won the presidential election. On January 20, 2009 at the U.S. Capitol he gives a successful inaugural address which influences the world greatly. He is the first African-American to hold the office. On October 9 in the same year, he was named as the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In November 5, 2008, he won the presidential election and gave a victory speech in Chicago.
