3 The revolution In the first line of the ode, Shelley says that the West Wind is wild. This is the most important thing. Everyone wants to be free and the wind is the best example of this idea. The world deprives the people of many things, but nature is a chance to get back liberty and wildness. As a destroyer and preserver, the west wind symbolizes the revolution which also can brings freedom for human being. Ode to the West Wind 1) An ode(颂诗) is a lengthy lyric that deals with serious topics and expresses lofty emotions conveyed in a dignified style. Typical topics include truth, art, freedom, justice, and the meaning of life. It is often addressed to a person or an event. 2) This ode consists of five stanzas, each a sonnet formed of four units of terza rima completed by a couplet. Terza rima(三行诗节) was used by Dante in The Divine Comedy. The first and third lines rhyme, and the second line is in rhyme with the forth and sixth lines, the rhyme scheme being aba, bcb, cdc, ded, ee. This linked chain gives a feeling of onwar
