The Controlled Assessment We offer four core modules which will allow students to undertake an enquiry they can then write up for the Controlled Assessment. These will be adapted each year to match the changing titles Edexcel set. Rivers and River Landscapes Transport needed An investigation on changing channel characteristics down the River/Afon Nant Peris. All students will develop river fieldwork skills, use different methods to collect data and observe different river landforms. Data can be collected on river characteristics and landforms at different sites down the river. 2016 focus: Investigate the differences between two or more contrasting river landforms. 2017 focus: Investigate the differences in the discharge and sediment characteristics of the Afon Nant Peris Locations: River/Afon Nant Peris Unit 2, Section A Coasts and Coastal Landscapes Transport needed Students undertake fieldwork to assess the impact of coastal processes (with particular reference to sediment transport) on beach dimensions and these will be related to different coastal defences. Students will also consider the processes behind the formation of coastal landforms found at Criccieth. Mapping and evaluation of the defences and the Coastal Management Scheme will also be carried out. Beach Cross profiles and sediment analysis will be used with particular reference to the 2017 focus. 2016 focus: Investigate the differences between two or more contrasting landforms along Criccieth coas
