A Cognitive Span for Study on Context   Abstract. Context is an important concept in the study of pragmatics. In traditional studies on context, concrete contextual elements are usually paid the most attention onto, which lacks of system and operability. During the change from the traditional study on context to the cognitive study, the following trends are got: plurality, dynamics and cognition. The proposal and study on cognitive context reveals great theoretical value and practical significance, which helps a lot in the understanding of texts.   Keywords: Context; Cognitive Context; Studies   1. Context   Context, namely cognitive context, is pragmatic knowledge for users. Contemporary linguistics has two big trends: one is the study of language use shifted from the language structure; two is the research to a living language from the study of literary language, namely the study of popular language.   The use of language cannot do without context; discourse is the product of a certain context. Holland linguistVan Dijk said: to fully describe the discourse, cannot regard it as language variants isolated, abstract, but should be discourse and context link analysis. Context refers to the actual use of language environment, the element is the generation and interpretation of discourse has a direct effect on. Mainly includes: first, the language environment, that is the context; two, the actual occurrence of speech act, which also includes the subjective factors: gender, age of participants, occupation, education, personality, temperament, mood and so on; three, cultural, social, political.   2.
