Statement of Problem: Alternative management systems must be developed that eliminate or substantially reduce the need to burn Kentucky bluegrass residue yet sustain productivity and profitability. Sustained bluegrass seed production has historically relied on open-field burning of post-harvest residue, but this practice has been associated with significant air quality and public health impacts. To sustain the future of bluegrass seed production, an important source of income for farmers in northern ID and eastern WA, the goal must be to encourage in situ decomposition and/or non-thermal or reduced-therm
