Probability (概率):Revision Exercise 1 Question 1. There are five red balls numbered 1, 4, 6, 8, and 9; and seven blue balls numbered 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 17. 1.1. The five red balls numbered 1, 4, 6, 8, and 9 are put into a red box; and the seven blue balls numbered 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 17 are put into a blue box. If one ball is taken out at random from each box, find the following probabilities. a. Sum of the numbers on the drawn balls is 11. b. Sum of the numbers on the drawn balls is 10. c. Sum of the numbers on the drawn balls is 9 or 19. d. Sum of the numbers on the drawn balls is an even number. e. Sum of the numbers on the drawn balls is greater than 2. f. Sum of the numbers on the balls is greater than or equal to (at least) 6. g. Only one of the numbers on the two drawn balls is an odd number. h. The numbers on the balls drawn are all odd numbers. i. One of the numbers on the drawn balls is an odd number. j. The number on the drawn red ball is greater than that of the blue ball. 1.2. If all the twelve balls are put into a bag, and two balls are drawn one by one in random with replacement from the bag, will the probabilities of the above cases in 1.1 be altered ? If so, find the altered probabilities. 1.3. If all the twelve balls are put into a bag, and two balls are drawn one by one in random without replacement from the bag, will the probabilities of the above cases in 1.1 be changed ? If so, find the respective probabilities. 1.4. If all the twelve balls are put into a bag, and two balls are drawn one by one in random with replacement from the bag. a. Find the probability that the two drawn balls are both red in colour. b. Find the probability that the two drawn balls are of the same colour. c. Find the probability that the drawn balls are of different colours. d. It is known that the first ball drawn is a red coloured ball; find the probability that the second ball drawn is a blue coloured ball. 1.5. If all the twelve balls
