During this period, the politeness usage is inevitably. However, due to the impact of different context cultures, there are obvious differences existing in the daily English-Chinese politeness.The concept of context culture is put forward by American anthropologist Edward Hall by earliest. The book beyond culture published in 1976, firstly mentioned the notion of high context and low context cultures and discussed its function as well. The essence of exchange between different languages, is the culture collision and integration between different contextual background.From the perspective of context culture, this paper will further explore the characteristics and diversities about English-Chinese politeness in details, and to summary the general features of the verbal styles about this two languages. This paper includes three parts. The firstwill givea definition of high context and low context culture to Edward Hall, and distinguish the respective features. The second part will introduce five kinds of basic politeness, that is address, greeting, invitation, compliment and apology. Those of which have different characteristics due to the impact of various context cultures.
