Notice that for each vendor, the distance from the end of the tubing to where the ferrules are seated or swaged is different? If the distance is too great for the end fitting of the column, the ferrule will not seal with the column and the fitting will leak. If you then tighten down on the fitting, the tubing will puncture the column frit. If the distance is too short, you can seal the ferrule and not have a leak, but there will be a large extra column volume for band broadening to occur. Notice how the ferrules are shaped differently as well? Some are designed to be used with columns and some are specific to injectors
