Q. “Cape Coral has experienced tremendous growth lately, what are some of the challenges associated with this?” A. “The city of Cape Coral and Southwest Florida as a whole has had phenomenal growth—growth that no one could have imagined five years ago. But over the last couple of years, it has put a strain on resources and forced us to figure out ways to be a little bit smarter about how we police. We need to do more intelligent policing as opposed to just putting people out there.” Q. “How does the SunGard OSSI software enable you to accomplish that?” A. “Our OSSI software has been an excellent manage- ment tool. Not only does it do a good job as a CAD and Records Management System, it captures data that allows us, from a management standpoint, to use our resources/assets in the most efficient and effective way possible.” Q. “Can you give me an example of this?” A. “Every year we do a Patrol Allocation Model, which requires the input of very specific data.
