Abstract This paper focuses on the study of Dickens’ world view in Oliver Twist. By analyzing the positive characters, the negative characters and environment, this paper holds that in the novel, Dickens believes in the kindness of human nature. Firstly, through the portrait of positive characters, Dickens has proved the goodness of human nature and he mainly describes three kindhearted people such as Oliver twist, Nancy, Brownlow and in this novel. Secondly the portrait of negative characters is used to set off the kindness of humanity. In this part, the novel mainly describes two negative characters who named Fagin and Bill Sikes they are thieves and treat Oliver badly. Finally through the description of environment, the author has expressed his hope of a bright future of the human society.
