Students who handle this challenge with great success tell us that effective learning strategies are an important part of their success.? Think about the following learning strategies, and evaluate if they are a part of your own learning experience: Step II Learning Strategies Make an effort to take really good class notes from a lecture Lectures provide you with key information for a course, and this information is not always available in your text. You need a good set of class notes to do well in a course. If you find that your teacher is speaking too fast for you, or if you find that the content is difficult to follow, you will need to compensate in some way: Prepare for class: Look over any preparatory materials before class, such as the text or notes that your teacher may have posted on the Internet. Talk to your teacher: It might be possible for you to get copies of any overheads used in class. Talk to students in your class: Ask if anyone would allow you to photocopy his or her class notes until you feel that your own note taking has improved. Develop an effective approach to text reading Survey text chapters before reading: Text structure can be an essential aid to identifying some of the key ideas; pay particular attention to sub-headings, bold and italicized text, marginal information, illustrations, and glossary terms. Use a dictionary for any terms that you dont k
