Methods: One hundred and thirty patients with depression were randomly divided into 2 groups treated with clomipramine and fluoxetine respectively for 8 weeks. The efficacy was evaluated with Self  Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and the side effects were evaluated with treatment symptome scale (TESS). Results: The effective rate of clomipramine group and fluoxetine group were 83.1% and 87.7% respectively, which had no remarkable differences between the two groups. However, the total effective
