Method of subcutaneous injection of crude myelin basic protein (MBP) to establish EAE model, EAE model is divided into high-and low-dose treatment group and control group. Modeling the treatment group fed 7 days before the beginning of atorvastatin until the end of the experiment, the control group without atorvastatin. The results of the incubation period of the treatment group than in the control group reduced (P amp;lt;0.01 or P amp;lt;0.05), the incubation period of low-dose group have long incubation periods than high-dose group, both with a statistical difference (P amp;lt;0.05); the progress of the treatment group significantly in the period shorter (P amp;lt;0.01); illness peak neurological deficit score, high-dose treatment group compared with control group, significantly lower (P amp;lt;0.01); EAE control group, the mortality rate as high as 50%, EAE mortality rate of low-dose group of 20%, EAE high-dose group no death, the difference between the groups was significant (P amp;lt;0.05). Conclusion Atorvastatin EAE animals with extended incubation period and shorten the period of disease progress, reducing the role of the central nervous system damage, lower peak mortality rates.
