Methods: Male SD rats were randomly divided into: (1) normal control group, kept at room temperature, distilled water; (2) GSS-treated group, kept at room temperature, GSS gavage; (3) thermal damage model group, distilled water irrigation stomach, producing thermal damage model; (4) thermal damage model GSS treatment group, GSS gavage, producing thermal damage model. By radioligand binding assay in rat brain, thymus, lung and liver cytosols GR binding activity; reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction determination of brain and liver cytosols GR mRNA level; radioimmunoassay of plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone ( adrenocorticotropin, ACTH) and corticosterone (corticosterone, CS) concentration. Results: Thermal injury models GSS treated rat brain, lung and liver cytosols GR binding activity, as well as brain and liver cytosols GR mRNA expression were significantly higher than that in thermal injury model group (P amp;lt;0.05 or P amp;lt;0.01); heat GSS injury model in rats treated plasma ACTH and CS concentration and pure thermal damage model group had no significant difference. Conclusion: GSS can alleviate heat injury in different organs in rats a decrease in GR binding activity, its mechanism may be related to the promotion of GR mRNA expression.
