Methods A retrospective analysis of 28 cases of acute traumatic epidural hematoma in special clinical data, male 16, female 12 cases underwent head CT scanning, hematoma volume of 50 ~ 100ml, preoperative GCS 3 ~ 5 points in 8 cases, 6 to 8 minutes and 20 patients underwent craniotomy hematoma. Results in 3 cases of death, plant survival in 1 case, moderate disability in 1 case, cured 23 cases. Conclusion Early diagnosis and choose the correct surgical procedure to remove the hematoma and in a timely manner, if necessary, remove the bone flap, after combined therapy, most patients with good prognosis. [Keywords:] brain injury, epidural hematoma, surgery Abstract: Objective To summarize the experience of hyperacute traumatic extradural hematoma for clinical management.Methods Twenty eight patients with hyperacute traumatic extradural hematoma treated in recent 10 years were reviewed.The group consisted of 16 males and 12 females.CT scan was taken in all patients . The volume of hematoma ranged from 50 to 100ml.The GCS ranged from 3 to 5 in 8 patients, and from 6 to 8 in 20 patients.The removal of hematoma by skull flap craniotomy was carried out in all patients.Results A total of 23 patients recovered, 3 patients died. Vegetative state and medial disability were found in 1 case respectively.Conclusion Most of patients with hyperacute traumatic extradural hematoma can display satisfactory prognosis.Early diagnosis, appropriate choice of operative method, operation for removal of hematoma in time , and systematic therapy after operation should be emphasized.The removal of skull flap is necessary sometimes.
