Keywords: end-stage renal disease; hemodialysis; fistula 【Abstract】 Objective To achieve appropriate method for making arteriovenous fistula and treating the access complication.Methods We summarized 238 cases of arteriovenous fistulae performed on end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patient by direct arteriovenous anastomosis and wheel nail connect.Most of the end (vein)-to-side anastomosis or end-to-end anastomosis were chosen between the radial artery and the cephalic vein on forearm. Occasionally end-to-side anatomosis or end-to-end anastomosis was done between the dorsal artery and the saphenous vein.Results arteriovenous fistulae could supply enough blood flow and had less complications.Effectiveness of successful fistulae after 6 years was up to 92%.
