Methods: A retrospective analysis of 50 cases of mediastinal emphysema X-ray (36 cases) and spiral CT (41 cases) performance. Results: 50 cases of mediastinal emphysema cases, X-ray showed pneumomediastinum rendered translucent images, lateral view shows more clearly than the anteroposterior film, spiral CT can clearly show pneumomediastinum present gas density, as well as being out of gas sketch mediastinal structures. Conclusion: X-ray and spiral CT examination is beneficial to early diagnosis of mediastinal emphysema, timely diagnosis and treatment of clinical important application value. Conclusion The chest X  ray and spiral CT were advantageous to the early diagnosis mediastinal emphysema and it had the important value to the clinical prompt diagnosis and treatment.
