 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 12 MRI diagnosis of cerebral palsy [Abstract] Objective: To investigate the morphological changes of children with cerebral palsy and diagnostic value of MRI. Methods: A retrospective study of 35 cases of cerebral palsy in children with head data (1.5 T), of which 16 cases of spastic cerebral palsy, extrapyramidal cerebral palsy in 7 cases, 4 cases of hypotonia cerebral palsy, mixed type cerebral palsy in 8 cases. Results: 32 cases of children (91%) showed abnormal brain MRI. In which brain atrophy in 11 cases, 8 cases of delayed myelination of white matter, periventricular leukomalacia lesions in 6 cases, 5 cases of abnormal signal basal ganglia, cerebral malacia in 5 cases, 3 cases of cortical infarction lesions, congenital malformation in 4 cases. Three cases of patients with no clear abnormal MRI inspection. Conclusion: MRI examination in children with cerebral palsy early diagnosis and prognosis of great value. [Keywords:] cerebral palsy; MRI; Diagnosis MRI Assessment of Cerebral Palsy in Children Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on cerebralpal sy (CP) in children.Methods In 35 children with cerebral palsy, the brain scans were studied with 1.5 T magnetic resonance scanner.The types of palsy were spastic CP (n = 16), extrapyramildal CP (n = 7), hypotonic CP (n = 4), and mixed CP (n = 8). Results Of all patients, 32 (91%) demonstrated abnormal findings with MRI.MRI showed brain atrophy in 11 cases, delayed myelinization in 8 cases, periventricular leukomalacia in 6 cases, abnomal signals of the basal ganglia in 5 cases, brain malaria in 5 cases, cortical infarction in 3 cases and congenital deformation in 4 cases, no abnormal finding in 3 cases.Conclusion MRI is a useful tool for the early diagnosis and the prognosis of cerebral palsy in children.
