METHODS: The immunohistochemical ABC method and the COX2 polyclonal antibody which was produced by ourselves were used to observe the expression of COX2 protein in the brains of normal adult rats. RESULTS: There was plentiful COX2 protein in the cortex, the hippocampus, the dentate gyrus, the supraoptic nucleus, the amygdaloid nucleus, cerebellum and brain stem, and so on. The COX2 immunopositive cells were mainly neurons, and a few were glial cells. CONCLUSION: COX2 protein is distributed widely in the brain.
