[Conclusion] Yanbian Korean-Chinese and Han people PGC  1 gene polymorphism Thr394Thr was no significant difference; PGC  1 gene polymorphism and type Ⅱ diabetes Thr394Thr incidence of no relevance. [Keywords:] Single nucleotide polymorphism in human populations with type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVETo determine the correlation of peroxisome proliferators activated receptor  γ coactivator 1 (PGC  1) gene Thr394Thr polymorphism and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) for Korean  Chinese and Han nationality in Yanbian area.METHODSPGC  1 gene Thr394Thr polymorphism in 104 cases of normal glucose tolerant (NGT) and 113 cases of T2DM was detected by PCR  SSCP.RESULTSThe A allele frequencies of NGT in Korean  Chinese and Han nationality were 23.3% and 20.7%, respectively, and there was no significant difference between two groups. The A allele frequencies of NGT and T2DM subjects were all of 22.1%. CONCLUSIONThere was no difference in frequency distribution of PGC  1 gene Thr394Thr polymorphism between Korean  Chinese and Han nationality in Yanbian area, and the PGC  1 gene Thr394Thr polymorphism was not associated with T2DM.
