Methods A total of 47 patients with Pilon Fracture were treated with plate osteosynthesis from 1999 to 2008. Results According to the scoring system by Baird, et al , the outcome was excellent in 31, good in 10 and fair in 6 patients. The excellent and good rate was 87.2%. All the patients were followed up for 12-23 months (averaged 15 months). The mean time of bony union was 9-18 weeks (mean 12.3 weeks). Conclusion The choice of operation opportunity is determined by the damage degree of soft tissue and the type of fracture.
