METHODS: By randomized group sampling method, 490 military personnel in high altitude area were assessed with Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, Life Event Scale and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). RESULTS: Positive coping styles were influenced by EPQE and perceived stress from work and environment, and negative coping styles were influenced by EPQN and perceived stress from interrelationship and adaptive events. The results from pathway analysis indicated that perceived stress could affect coping styles directly and indirectly, and its indirect affection through personality traits was more obvious. CONCLUSION: Coping style is affected by the differences of perceived stress and personality and the latter has greater indirect effect on the coping styles.
