Conclusion The method is simple and feasible, reproducible, and can be used as quality control of medicinal thistle. MethodsA TLC method was used for qualitative identification and at HPLC analysis was applied for quantitative determination of Herba Cirsii with linarin as the reference substances. The column was Ultimate Column XB-C18 (4.6 mm × 250 mm, 5 μm), the mobile phase was the mixture of methanol-water (51:49) with a flow rate of 1.0 ml · min-1, the UV detection wavelength was 334 nm and the column temperature was set at 25 ℃ . ResultsThe TLC method was suitable for the identification of Herba Cirsii. A good linear relationship between the peak areas and injected amounts of linarin in the range of 0.006 58-2.964 μg, the average recovery was 100.7% (RSD = 1.89%). ConclusionThe established method is simple and reproducible and can be used as quality control methods of Herba Cirsii.
