Methods 450 patients in our hospital convalescence retired army officers, were measured height, weight, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and biochemical indicators; Ultrasound carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT), plaque detection rate; automatic bilateral atherosclerosis was determined by measuring the ankle brachial artery pulse wave velocity (PWV). the results of retired army MS 17.56% prevalence rate, prevalence rate of 60 to 69 years maximum, MS carotid IMT, plaque detection rate, PWV compared with the control group were significantly different. Conclusions from the army retired cadres in the high prevalence of MS, but with increasing age reduced; MS and AS severity are closely related. In this paper, the army in our hospital from convalescent retired cadres MS prevalence and risk factors were analyzed to explore the relationship between MS and AS, to provide guidance for its control. 1 Subjects and methods 1.1 The object of study chosen from October 2008 to October 2009 came to our hospital convalescence 450 cases of retired army officers, all male, aged 60 to 85 years, mean (76.03 + -12.81 years).
