 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 23 The relationship between smoking and cancer Meta-analysis [Abstract] Objective of the last decade China has been published on the relationship between smoking and cancer research to evaluate the system to explore the relationship between smoking and cancer. Methods We searched the Chinese Biomedical CD Database, Chinese Scientific Journal Database, Chinese Journal Full-text database and Wanfang database, search term from 1991-2006. all evaluation of smoking and gastric cancer case-control studies and cohort studies to be included. Meta-analysis of the use of comprehensive analysis, according to study type (case-control and cohort studies) and gender (male, female) were combined stratified analysis. According to data consistency check, using random effect model (DL method) calculation of combined relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI ). The results met the inclusion criteria of a total of 15 papers, including 11 case-control study, four cohort studies. Meta-analysis results: the total combined between smoking and cancer RR was 1.94 (95% CI: 1.78 ~ 2.12) men between smoking and cancer as the total combined RR 1.70 (95% CI: 1.34 ~ 2.14), women between smoking and cancer as the total combined RR 1.83 (95% CI: 0.10 ~ 33.09). Conclusions Smoking is a cancer one of risk factors, male smoking may increase the risk of gastric cancer, female smoking and gastric cancer needs further study.
