Currently,eightHAstVgenotypeshavebeenidentifiedandallbuttwo(HAstV-6andHAstV-7)havebeenfully sequenced.WeheresequencedandanalyzedthecompletegenomeofaHAstV-6strain(192-BJ07),whichwas identifiedinBeijing,China. Results:Thegenomeof192-BJ07consistsof6745nucleotides.The192-BJ07straindisplaysa77.2-78.0% nucleotidesequenceidentitywithotherHAstVgenotypesandexhibitsaminoacidsequenceidentitiesof86.5- 87.4%,94.2-95.1%,and65.5-74.8%intheORF1a,ORF1b,andORF2regions,respectively.Homologicalanalysisof ORF2showsthat192-BJ07is96.3%identicaltothedocumentedHAstV-6strain.Further,phylogeneticanalysis indicatesthatdifferentgenomicregionsarelikelyundergoingdifferentevolutionaryandselectivepressures.No recombinationeventwasobservedinHAstV-6inthisstudy. Conclusion:ThecompletelysequencedandcharacterizedgenomeofHAstV-6(192-BJ07)providesfurtherinsight intothegeneticsofastrovirusesandaidsinthesurveillanceandcontrolofHAstVgastroenteritis.
