Humanities School of Central China Normal University , Wuhan , Hubei 430079 , China) Abstract: This paper employs the verbal semantic hierarchy as the core element to construct a four-level verbal clas sification system. According to the generative lexicon theory , the semantic frame theory and the construction gram mar , we describe the attributes and combinatory features of verbs from event structure , semantic frame , qualia structure and syntactic format. The aim of this research is to construct a Chinese Verb Library(CVL)which can be used to make an adequate explanation and in• depth description of v+ V constructions , V + N constructions , and other creative c
