The algorithm attempts to maximize the system generation capability over arestoration period, where the dynamic characteristics of di?erenttypesofunitsandsystemconstraintsareconsidered.Applyingthismethodforthe39-bus NewEngland testsystem, andcomparing theresultswithbacktracking-search andP/tmethods, itisfoundthatproposedalgorithm improvedgeneration capability. 1.Introduction In recent years, power systems are operated fairly close to their limits primarily due to economiccompetitionandderegulation.Atthesametime,theyhaveincreasedinsizeand complexity.Bothfactorsincreasetheriskofmajorpoweroutages1.Afterablackout,power needstoberestoredasquicklyandreliablyaspossible,andconsequentlydetailedrestoration plansarenecessary2,3.Whilemostrestorationplanshavebeendevelopedonatrial-and- error principle, there is a tendency to employ a more systematic planning and analysis of restorationprocedures4–10. In
