ThispaperreportsthegrowthofMgOnano?lmsonBaMgAl10O17:Eu bluephosphorsbyusingtheatomiclayerdeposition 2+ method.MgO?lmswerepreparedat120 CbyusingMg(CpEt)2andH2Oastheprecursorandreactantgas,respectively.X-ray ? photoelectronspectroscopy(XPS)analysisshowedthattheMgpeakofthecoatedpowderswashigherthanthatoftheuncoated powders.Thiscon?rmedthatthesurfaceofthecoatedphosphorpowdercomprisedMgOnanoscale?lm.ThroughTEMandFE- SEManalysis,itwasobservedthatthegrowthratewasabout0.33A?/cycleandthatthesurfacemorphologyofthecoatedphosphors wassmootherandclearerthanthatofuncoatedphosphor.Thephotoluminescence(PL)intensityforthecoatedphosphorswas 5%–19%higherthanthatofuncoatedphosphor.Thismeansthatthereactivesurfaceisuniformlygrownwithstablemagnesium oxidetoreducethedeadsurfacelayerwithoutchangeofbulkproperties. 1.Introduction ismaterialdependent.MgOhasaoneofthehighestelectron emissioncoe?cients,henceMgO-coatingisappliedonthe frontplateofaPDP[2].
