PotentialUScastorproductionislimitedduetoonlyonelabeledherbicide(tri?uralin).FieldstudieswereconductedattwoTexas locationsduring2008and2009toevaluatepostemergenceherbicidesforcastortoleranceandweedcontrole?cacy.Clethodim and?uazifop-P-butylcausednocastorstuntingwhileaci?uorfen,bentazon,imazethapyr,andlactofencausedstuntingwhich rangedfrom5to46%.Imazapicand2,4-DBcausedthegreateststunting(44to99%)andresultedincastoryieldsof0to45% oftheuntreatedcheck.Aci?uorfen,imazapic,imazethapyr,lactofen,and2,4-DBcontrolledatleast80%smellmelon(Cucumis meloL.var.DudaimNaud.)whileclethodimand?uazifop-P-butylcontrolledatleast98%Texasmillet[Urochloatexana(Buckl.) R.Webster]. Imazapic and imazethapyr provided 57 to 75% Texas millet control.
