AttentionhasbeenfocusedonSTOequation1.1in 1and 2–4andthereferences thereinduetoitsappearanceinscienti?capplications.In 1,thetanhmethod,theextended tanhmethod,andotheransatzinvolvinghyperbolicandexponentialfunctionsaree?ciently usedfortheanalyticstudyofthisequation.Andsomenewsolitonsandkinkssolutionsare formallyderived.Theproposedschemesarereliableandmanageable.In 2,thisequation was handled by using the Cole-Hopf transformations method. The simple symmetry reductionprocedureisrepeatedlyusedin 3toobtainexactsolutionswheresoliton?ssion andfusionwereexamined.However,in 4,thesoliton ?ssion andfusionwereexamined thoroughlybyusingHirota’sdirectmethodandtheB¨acklundtransformationsmethod.In  2
