ResultsoftheCATHAREcodecalculationsrelatedtoasymmetriccooldowntestsinthePKLfacilityarepresented.Thetestunder considerationistheG2.1experimentperformedwithintheOECD/NEAPKL-2project.Itconsistsofcarryingoutacooldown under natural circulation conditions in presence of two (out of four) emptied Steam Generators (SGs) and isolated on their secondarysides.Themaingoalofthecurrentstudyistoassesstheimpactofachosencooldownstrategyupontheoccurrence ofaNaturalCirculationInterruption(NCI)intheinactive(i.e.,noncooling)loops.Forthispurpose,threeG2.1testrunswere investigated.Thecalculationresultsemphasize,mainly,thee?ectofthecooldownstrategy,andtheconditionsthatcouldleadto theoccurrenceoftheNCIphenomenon. 1.Introduction showedthatNCIcouldoccurintheloopwithisolatedand ?lledSGsifa(stepwise)cooldownat50 C/h,withamean valuearound10 C/h,isperformed.Recently,Vlassenbroeck etal.[1]investigatedtheNCIinatypical2-loopNPPusinga thermal-hydraulicsystemcode.Thelatterstudyemphasised ? thefactthatalinearcooldownratelargerthan14 C/hcould leadtoNCI.
