Thispaperdescribesadecisionfusionstrategythatcanintegratemultipleindividualdamagedetectionmeasurestoformanew measure,andthenewmeasurehashigherprobabilityofcorrectdetectionthananyindividualmeasure.Themethodtocompute theprobabilityofcorrectselectionispresentedtomeasurethesystemperformanceofthefusionsystemthatincludesthepresented fusionstrategy.Andparametricsensitivestudiesonsystemperformancearealsoconducted.Thesuperiorityofthefusionstrategy hereinisthatitcanbeextendedtodealwiththemultiresolutionsubdecisionorblindadaptivedetection,andcorresponding methodologiesarealsoprovided.Finally,anexperimentalsetupwasfabricated,wherebythevibrationpropertiesofdamagedand undamagedstructuresweremeasured.Theexperimentalresultswiththeundamagedstructuralmodelprovideinformationfor producinganimprovedtheoreticalandnumericalmodelviamodelupdatingtechniques.Threeexistingvibration-baseddamage detection methods with varied resolutions were utilized to identify the damage that occurred in the structure, based on the experimentalresults.Thenthedecisionfusionstrategywasimplementedtojointhesubdecisionsfromthesethreemethods.The fusedresultsareshowntobesuperiortothosefromsinglemethod. 1.Introduction be traced back to Tenney and Sandell’s
