Instead, these eukaryotes controlgeneexpressionmainlyatthepost-transcriptionallevel.RegulationisexertedthroughtheactionofnumerousRNA- bindingproteinsthatmodulatemRNAprocessing,turnover,translationandlocalization.InthisworkweshowthattheRNA- binding protein DRBD3 resides in the cytoplasm, but localizes to the nucleus upon oxidative challenge and to stress granulesunderstarvationconditions.DRBD3associateswithotherproteinstoformacomplex,thecompositionofwhichis alteredbycellularstress.Interestingly,targetmRNAsremainboundtoDRBD3understressconditions.Ourresultssuggest thatDRBD3transportsregulatedmRNAswithinthecellintheformofribonucleoproteincomplexesthatareremodeledin responsetoenvironmentalcues.
