In this study, wefocus on themannerof OPCproliferation in thehippocampus of the youngadultmice.HerewereportthatthereareoscillatorydynamicsinOPCproliferationthatdifferfromneurogenesisin thesubgranularzone(SGZ);theformershowedS-phaseandM-phasepeaksintherestingandactiveperiods,respectively, while the latter only exhibited M-phase peak in the active period. There is coincidence between different modes of proliferationandexpressionofcyclinproteinsthatarecrucialforcellcycle;cyclinD1isexpressedinOPCs,whilecyclinD2is observedinneuralstemcells.Similartoneurogenesis,theproliferationofhippocampalOPCswasenhancedbyvoluntary exercisethatleadstoanincreaseinneuronalactivityinthehippocampus.ThesedatasuggestanintriguingcontrolofOPC proliferationinthehippocampus.
