AllnewlyisolatedRuntgeneswereexpressedincartilageaccordingtoquantitativePCR.Insituhybridisationconfirmedhigh MgRunxAexpressioninhardcartilageofhagfish.IndogfishScRunx2andScRunx3wereexpressedinembryonalcartilage whereasallthreeRuntgenesweredetectedinteethandplacoidscales.Incephalochordates(lancelets)Runt,Hedgehogand SoxEwerestronglyexpressedinthegillbarsandexpressionofRuntandHedgehogwasfoundinendo-aswellasectodermal cells.
