Then, we demonstrate that Dmrt2b contributes to a divergent function in somitogenesis through Hedgehog pathway, because Dmrt2bknockdownreducestargetgeneexpressionofHedgehogsignaling,andalsoimpairsslowmuscledevelopmentand neuraltubepatterningthroughHedgehogsignaling.Moreover,theDmrt2bmorphantsdisplaydefectsinheartandvisceral organasymmetry,and,somelateral-platemesoderm(LPM)markersexpressedinleftsidearerandomized.Together,these dataindicatethatfish-specificduplicateddmrt2bcontributestoadivergentfunctioninsomitogenesisthroughHedgehog pathwayandmaintainsthecommonfunctionforleft-rightasymmetryestablishment.
