In this study, we investigated the protective immunity against pneumococcal carriage,pneumonia,andsepsisinducedbymaternalimmunizationwithpneumococcalsurfaceproteinA(PspA).Mother micewereintranasallyimmunizedwithrecombinantPspA(rPspA)andcholeratoxinBsubunit(CTB)priortobeingmated. Anti-PspAspecificIgG,predominantlyIgG1,waspresentatahighlevelintheserumandmilkofimmunizedmothersandin the sera of their pups.
