[Abstract] Listening comprehension is troubled by university students learning English, one of the main issues. Theory is applied to the icon of College English Listening Teaching will optimize the listening mode of instruction, give full play to the initiative of students, effectively improve the level of hearing.

Listening Teaching has always been an important part of college English teaching, students learning English listening comprehension is also a very important part of learning but it is rather difficult. In fact, listening is not passive acceptance of a complete process, it requires the listener’s own initiative factors, the listener must understand the original on the basis of various types of knowledge activation and use them to understand and explain the intention of the speaker , while the listener in the listening comprehension in the cognitive process of the role of psychological factors as well as the background knowledge is played an important role. Here talked about the role of background knowledge on listening comprehension of the theory is that schema theory.
First, schema theory
Schemata (schema) from the Greek word, the most arid in ancient Greek philosophical and psychological writings. The concept of schemata was first used by Kant (I. Kant, 1781) suggested that he had discussed the philosophical significance of schemata that exist in the human brain the concept of pure things, schema objects connecting link between the concept and perception. Pearson (L. Pearson, 1982) that the schema is ‘people hear or read some information is generated in the minds of the scene or association’. Cook (1989,1994) proposed schemata is the mind of the ‘pre-existent knowledge’ (the pre-existent knowledge) or ‘background knowledge’.
