Variancecomponentanalysis(VCA)usingamarker-basedidentitybydescent(IBD) matrixwasapplied. TheIBDcoe?cientwasestimatedwithsimpledeterministic(SMD)and MarkovchainMonteCarlo(MCMC)methods.Datafortwogrowthtraits,averagedailygainon testandwholelifedailygain,andbackfatthicknesswereanalysed.Withbothmethods,seven outof26combinationsofpopulation, chromosomeandtrait,weresigni?cant. Additionally, QTLgenotypic andallelice?ectswereestimatedwhentheQTLe?ectwassigni?cant. The rangeofQTLgenotypice?ectsinapopulationvariedfrom4.8%to10.9%ofthephenotypic meanforgrowthtraitsand7.9%to19.5%forbackfattrait.HeritabilitiesoftheQTLgenotypic valuesrangedfrom8.6%to18.2%forgrowthtraits,and14.5%to19.2%forbackfat.
