Methods:Theproposedrandomizedandcontrolledtrialusesamultivariatenestedcohortdesigntoexaminethe physical(motorcoordination)andpsychosocial(selfperceptions,anxiety,socialcompetence)outcomesofthe program.TheAnimalFunprogramisateacherdelivereduniversalprogramincorporatinganimalactionsto facilitatemotorskillandsocialskillacquisitionandpractice.Pre-interventionscoresonmotorandpsychosocial variablesforsixcontrolschoolsandsixinterventionschoolswillbecomparedwithpost-interventionscores(endof Pre-Primaryyear)andscorestaken12monthslaterafterthechildren’stransitiontoprimaryschoolYear1.520 childrenaged4.5to6yearswillberecruitedanditisanticipatedthat360childrenwillberetainedtothe1year follow-up.Therewillbeequalnumbersofboysandgirls.
