Conservatives have heightened sensitivity for detecting emotional faces and use emotion more effectively when campaigning.Astheleftfacedisplaysemotionmoreprominently,weexamined1538officialphotographsofconservative andliberalpoliticiansfromAustralia,Canada,theUnitedKingdomandtheUnitedStatesforanasymmetryinposing.Across nations,conservativesweremorelikelythanliberalstodisplaytheleftcheek.Incontrast,liberalsweremorelikelytoface forwardthanwereconservatives.Emotionisimportantinpoliticalcampaigningandasportraitsinfluencevotingdecisions, conservativepoliticiansmayintuitivelydisplaytheleftfacetoconveyemotiontovoters.
