Methods:Asystematicliteraturereviewwasundertaken.Thedatasourceswereseventeennationaland internationalliteraturedatabases,fourDutchjournalsdedicatedtopalliativecareand37websitesofrelevant nationalandinternationalorganizations.Allthereferencesfoundwerecheckedtoseewhethertheymetthe structuredinclusioncriteria.Inclusionwaslimitedtopublicationsdealingwithprimaryempiricalresearchonthe relationshipbetweensocio-culturalfactorsandthehealthorcaresituationofTurkishorMoroccanpatientswithan oncologicalorincurabledisease.Theselectionwasmadebyfirstreadingthetitlesandabstractsandsubsequently thefulltexts.Theprocessofdecidingwhichstudiestoincludewascarriedoutbytworeviewersindependently.A genericappraisalinstrumentwasappliedtoassessthemethodologicalquality. Results:Fifty-sevenstudieswerefoundthatreportedfindingsforthecountriesoforigin(mainlyTurkey)andthe immigranthostcountries(mainlytheNetherlands).Thecentralthemeswereexperiencesandperceptionsoffamily care,professionalcare,end-of-lifecareandcommunication.Familycareisconsideredaduty,evenwhensuchcare becomesasevereburdenforthemainfemalefamilycaregiverinparticular.Professionalhospitalcareispreferred bymanyofthepatientsandrelativesbecausetheyarelookingforacureandsecurity.End-of-lifecareisstrongly influencedbythecontinuinghopeforr
