Methods:Secondarydataanalysisofthe2006SurveyofAutonomyandDependency(N=3,348).TheTSNswere identifiedusingthestructuralapproachandclusteranalysis.Theassociationbetweenfunctionaldependencyand theTSNswasevaluatedwithPoissonregressionwithrobustvarianceanalysisinwhichsocio-demographic characteristics,lifestyleandmedicalhistorycovariateswereincluded. Results:WeidentifiedfiveTSNs:diversewithcommunityparticipation(12.1%),diversewithoutcommunity participation(44.3%);widowed(32.0%);nonfriends-restricted(7.6%);nonfamily-restricted(4.0%).Olderadults belongingtowidowedandrestrictednetworksshowedahigherproportionofdependency,negativeself-rated healthanddepression.Olderadultswithfunctionaldependencymorelikelybelongedtoawidowednetwork (adjustedprevalenceratio1.5;95%CI:1.1-2.1). Conclusion:ThederivedTSNsweresimilartothosedescribedindevelopedcountries.However,weidentifiedthe existenceofadiversenetworkwithoutcommunityparticipationandawidowednetworkthathavenotbeen previouslydescribed.TheseTSNsandrestrictednetworksrepresentapotentialunmetneedofsocialsecurity affiliates.
