INTRODUCTION ThevariancecomponentmethodwithrandomQTLe?ectsispreferredfor estimationofQTLgenotypicorallelice?ects[6,19],sincethismethoddoes notrequirespeci?cationofthenumberofalleles,andtherelationshipmatrixes allow separate estimations of the polygenic and QTLe?ects.
