Abstract moore@ 1HumanAerospaceLaboratory, DepartmentofNeurology,Mount SinaiSchoolofMedicine,NewYork Background:Parkinson’sdisease(PD)isaneurodegenerativedisorderresultingin motordisturbancesthatcanimpactnormalgait.AlthoughPDinitiallyrespondswell NY10029,USA Fulllistofauthorinformationis availableattheendofthearticle topharmacologicaltreatment,asthediseaseprogressesefficacyoftenfluctuatesover thecourseoftheday,andclinicalmanagementwouldbenefitfromlong-term objectivemeasuresofgait.Wehavepreviouslydescribedasmalldevicewornonthe shankthatusesaccelerationandangularvelocitysensorstocalculatestridelength andidentifyfreezingofgaitinPDpatients.Inthisstudyweextendvalidationofthe gaitmonitorto24-husingsimultaneousvideoobservationofPDpatients. Methods:Asleeplaboratorywasadaptedtoperform24-hrvideomonitoringof patientswhilewearingthedevice.Continuousvideomonitoringofasleeplab, hallway,kitchenandconferenceroomwasperformedusinga4-camerasecurity systemandrecordedtoharddisk.Subjects(3)worethegaitmonitorontheleft shank(justabovetheankle)fora24-hperiodbeginningaround5pminthe evening.Accuracyofstridelengthmeasureswereassessedatthebeginningand endofthe24-hepoch.Twoindependentobserversratedthevideologstoidentify whensubjectswerewalkingorlyingdown. Results:Themeanerrorinstridelengthatthestartofrecordingwas0.05m(SD0) andattheconclusionofthe24hepochwas0.06m(SD0.026).Therewasfull agreementbetweenobservercodingofthevideologsandtheoutputfromthegait monitorsoftware;thatis,foreveryvideoobservationofthesubjectwalkingthere wasacorrespond
