Materialsandmethods:Ratsweredividedintocontrolgroup,controlgroupreceivingcurcuminderivative, diabeticgroup,diabeticgroupreceivingcurcuminderivativeanddiabeticgroupreceivingcurcuminderivativeand HOinhibitorZnPP.Type-1diabeteswasinducedbyintraperitonealinjectionofstreptozotocin.Curcuminderivative wasgivenorallyfor45days.Attheplannedsacrificationtime(after45days),fastingbloodsampleswere withdrawnforestimationofplasmaglucose,plasmainsulinandlipidprofile.Animalsweresacrificed;pancreas, aortaandliverwereexcisedforthehemeoxygenase-1expression,activityandmalondialdehydeestimation. Results:NCDsupplementationtodiabeticratssignificantlyloweredtheplasmaglucoseby27.5%andincreased plasmainsulinby66.67%.Ontheotherhand,themeanplasmaglucoselevelinthecontrolgroupshowedno significantdifferencecomparedtothecontrolgroupreceivingtheoralNCDwhereas,NCDsupplementationto thecontrolratssignificantlyincreasedtheplasmainsulinby47.13%comparedtothecontrol.NC
