A te r intro duction o cable laying and opera tion env ir onme nt o r the cable, this paper ana lyzed the reasons o aults o DC eeder cable w ith illu stra tion o DC eede r cable o Shanghai railw ay tr a ic, and proposed relevant counte rmeasure s. T he results o ault analy sis show ed that the acto rs cau sing the DC eeder cable aults w er e mainly the insulatio n de- te rio ratio n cau sed by moisture and elect ric or ce, inadequate cur vature o layout, a nd insula tion deterio ratio n cau sed by the hig h requency pulse. Rationally selecting cable ty pe, impro ving cable operating env ir onme nt, and installing ailure w ar ning devices, w e re e ective to reduce the impact o cable ailure. Key words:railw ay tra ic;d
