Department of Orthop edics, The Second Aff iliated Hospital of Harbin Medical niversity, Harbin 150086, China Abstract: Objective To investigate the morbidity rate, risk factors, preventive measures of knee osteoarthritis ( OA) patients in alpine-cold areas. Methods Take the random cluster sampling to undertake Han people, 41 to 70 years old, registered residence in one community on questionnaires, physical examinations and the X-ray examination by stages and groups. Results Totally, 522 objects were investigated in this study (25 men and 269 women) with the average age of 5 14 years old, and 100 people were diagnosed knee OA. The average morbidity rate was 19116% ( male 111 07% and female 261 77%) .The morbidity rate of the age-group between 61to 65 was the highest, 6107% , in the all age-groups. The morbidity rates in each part of the knee were put in order: medial femur-tibia joint ( 2015%) lateral ones ( 1 1 1%) patellofemoral joint ( 8191%) . There was no apparent difference between two sides of the knee. The morbidity rates of two sides abnormal at the same timewere 181 9% , 11111% and 61 2% .There was no correlation between knee osteoarthritis ( OA) and work postures ( stand, crouch, sit, and sto
